Meeting Minutes – July 25, 2013

The July meeting was called to order by Vice President, Bob Billany. We had three officers in attendance.

OLD BUSINESS

We waived the reading of last months meeting minutes. The scrollkeeper did not bring a copy of them.

The Treasurer reported that we have $2460.52.

Guest Josh Hubner, a recent transplant from Washington, D.C., attendedned his first MASH meeting.  He has ten years homebrewing experience, including President of the D.C. homebrew club.

NHC had seven MASH members at the conferernce. The members that went to the NHC gave a report about the conference. The NHC 2014 will be held in Grand Rapids, Michigan. 

Jon Britton is looking in to getting the membership cards designed and printed.

NEW BUSINESS

MASH has been awarded a BJCP tasting exam for July of 2015. MASH will start a tasting schedule for it’s members that are planning to take the exam.

A new MASH brochure is to be designed and printed. Denise has agreed to take on this project.

Winter solice party date has been tentatively set for Dec 14.

World of Beers in Kendall and Dadeland wanted us to brew beer and pour it at the stores. This was voted down.

The planning of a club outing to Funky Buddha brewing will be set up for August or September.

Other information:

Barley & Swine restaurant  is having a beer dinner on August 15.

VP Bob is hosting a beer and food tasting September 17, 7pm tp 9pm at Devon Seafood & Steaks. Check with him for further details.

A reminder that our club will pay for your entries fees for any Florida Circuit competition that you enter.

A new homebrew supply store is opening in late September right here in Miami. The store location will be in the warehouses at SW 40 street and SW 74 ave. More information to come but we have been told that a MASH club members discount will be available.

BOTY is mead, we have three entries.

In third place was Danny with a dry mead (24A) still hydromel.

in second place was Ryan with a dry mead (24A) still hydromel.

In first place was Scott and Denise with a other fruit mead (25C) still semi sweet methamel, mixed berry.
