Meeting Minutes – November 2016

I. Call to Order

  • Several new members were in attendance this evening. Welcome to Ruben, Denise and James, Jamie, and Corey!

  • This is our last annual meeting

II. Review of Previous Minutes

III. Treasure's Report (Dave Kirsten)

  • Account Balance: $ 5629.93

    • “We’ve got money!”

    • Club funds are in surplus. Members are encouraged to start planning and brewing for BFBC competitions.

    • Mash will pay for the first two entries, per competition, for any competitions counting towards the Florida Homebrew Cup.

  • Cash Flow: $ 957.71

  • Paid Members: 47        

IV. Current Business

  • Volunteers​​ are needed​​ for​​ North Miami/FIU Brewfest

    • Matt Waldron will be there speaking, and with kegs for a Brulosophy experiment.

    • Help is needed with pouring the beer and managing the club tent.

  • MASHups - Social Event/Bottle Share - Next one will be scheduled in January (Josh Hubner)

    • Location for next MASHup is TBA

    • More info will be available soon.

V. New Business

  • Upcoming Events

    • South Florida Brewfest @ FIU (11/19)

    • Veritage (TBD)

      • MASH is registered.

      • Still no date selected. We will inform MASH once a date has been selected.

    • ​​ Miami Beer Festival - January 2017

      • January 14

      • MASH will give more info soon for club involvement.

      • Start brewing or planning your involvement now for this Festival!

      • MASH will have a signup sheet by next meeting.

  • Coconut Cup 2017

    • Volunteers are needed for Judging, Stewards, Bottle sorting, Food gathering, etc.

    • This is our largest annual event, is BJCP sanctioned, and has over 400 entries each year (that require sorting/judging help). This competition provides the bulk of MASH’s annual funds. So it is very important to have club involvement in it.

    • Date of competition is being finalized, for late February or early March

    • ​​ The Coconut Cup trophy is awarded to the best performing club. Start planning your entries, and brew! We want the trophy back this year.

 

  • Winter Solstice

    • Will be held at​​ Tom's NFL,​​ in Miami Springs​​ (Just north of MIA Airport)

    • Saturday,​​ December 17, 2016. Starting at 1:00 p.m.

    • First BOTY for 2017 will be held at this meeting, with the category being “Open/Best of Show”
