President’s Message – December 2012

President’s Inaugural Message:

It is with great pride that I take on the role of President of this exceptional organization. I offer my sincere thanks and appreciation to Jon Britton, Denise Graham and the other 2012 club officers for the hard work, dedication and leadership you have exhibited. I have learned so much from you over the relatively short period of time I have been involved with MASH. I hope to live up to the standards you have set.

A special thanks to Eric and Caroline Johnson for hosting the Winter Solstice Party. I was delighted that so many of you were able to join us and particularly pleased with the level of participation in this month’s BOTY. Nine beers were entered in the competition! Let’s keep the momentum going. The January BOTY category is stout.

My goal over the next year is to focus on the objectives of our club – which emphasize the promotion of homebrewing and the encouragement of new homebrewers. The specific purposes of MASH can be found in our By-Laws which I have posted on the MASH website. I encourage you all to review them.

Our website has been newly refurbished. My thanks to Eric Johnson and Rolland Bravo for their assistance with this project. I welcome any and all feedback regarding the site.

The website isn’t all that’s new. Over the past few months, we have been joined by several new members. I truly hope that trend continues. With new blood comes new energy and excitement. (Maybe new BJCP judges?) Our challenge is to harness this enthusiasm while respecting and honoring the long-standing traditions of MASH. I believe we are up to the task!

For those that are new to homebrewing, remember that MASH has a library of books and magazines that are available for your use. A listing of these materials is posted on the website. If you would like to borrow one of these items, simply contact our Librarian, Eric Johnson, and he will bring it to the next meeting.

I look forward to a wonderful year of achievement, camaraderie and brewing. Lots and lots of brewing!

Hoppy Holidays to you all!
