President’s Message – August 2013

Hola, Mashers!

Just a quick reminder that our next meeting will take place on Thursday, August 22nd at the American Legion Post in South Miami (7710 SW 59th Avenue). The merriment commences at 7:00 p.m. Lots of good stuff on tap this month. (Sorry!)

The meeting will kick-off with an education and tasting session led by Tony Hernandez. Tony will be reviewing this month’s BOTY Style – European Amber Lagers. Be sure to bring your Vienna Lagers and Oktoberfest beers for this month’s intraclub competition.

Speaking of competitions – MASH had a strong showing at last month’s First Coast Cup. Congratulations once again to the medalists:

• Ryan Lapete – Bronze Medal (Sour Ales) Berliner Weisse

• Dan Barrett – Silver Medal (Light Hybrid) “Summer Citra” American Wheat

• Danny Argudin – Gold Medal (Smoke & Wood Aged) “Revenge of the Closet Monster”

• Dave & Bob – Gold Medal (English Brown) / Silver Medal (Specialty) “Nuttin Honey”

Feel free to bring samples of your winning brews . . . if you haven’t drank it all.

With numerous MASH entries making their way up to Melbourne, I expect an even better showing at the Commander SAAZ competition!

Plenty of other things to discuss, but we’ll leave that until Thursday.

For those of you who don’t need to get up early to operate heavy machinery, all locations of World of Beer will be hosting a Stone Brewing Tap Takeover. Could be a fun, and delicious, way to end the evening!
