President’s Message – February 2013

MASHers,

It’s February – the shortest month of the year.  So much to do.  So little time!

Just a reminder . . . Our second preliminary judging session for the Coconut Cup will be taking place tonight, 2/26 beginning at 6:00 p.m.  Jon and Alisa have volunteered to host the event at their home.  Their address is 19800 SW 88th Court (Cutler Bay).  I hope to see as many of you there as possible.  We’ve got an awful lot of entries to get through.

The final two judging sessions will take place at the American Legion Hall in South Miami (7710 SW 59th Avenue) as follows:

  • Friday , March 1st at 12:00 p.m. (Preliminary Judging)
  • Saturday, March 2nd at 9:00 a.m. (Final Judging and Awards)

We will be conducting our regular monthly meeting at the American Legion Hall on Thursday night (2/28) at 7:00 p.m.  This will give us the opportunity to transfer the Coconut Cup entries and supplies to the final judging site in advance of the competition.

Obviously, the Coconut Cup will be the primary topic of conversation on Thursday, but we’ve got a few other items to talk about:

  • National Homebrew Competiton (Entry window opens today!)
  • Hurricane Blowoff Homebrew Competition (Palm Beach) to take place on 4/19 – 4/20.  Entry window open from 3/11 – 3/29.
  • Other calendar items and club business.

The BotY Style for February is English and American Barleywine.  Bring ‘em if you got ‘em.  If not, there’s still time to brew an entry for the intra-club competition in March (Extract Beers).

Get plenty of sleep – it’s gonna be a busy week!

 Cheers!

 Dave
